Irmo is a Wrap, On to Charleston, South Carolina

The first stop of 10 is in the history books. The Boardr Series goes to Charleston, South Carolina next on April 24 - 25.

Man, the Irmo community shows up! We were excited to see the turnout from last year when it was our first time doing one there.

This year was just as high on energy levels, boosted of course by Zion Wright joining us for the weekend.

Friday Night: Just Skateboarding

We’re starting every weekend of The Boardr Series with a session and high fives the night before at 5pm. That’s it, nothing but a welcome to town, skateboarding, and some smiles.

A few photos from that session:

Saturday: Contest Day

I can’t resist talking business and numbers so I’m starging with that. It’s such an interesting problem when you’re trying to make a living out of something that’s your lifelong hobby/passion/lifestyle or whatever you want to call this skateboarding thing.

As you know, we changed up pricing and the structure a bit this year. Trying to sustain a contest series on sponsorship dollars just never works in the long run. So, some of that cost has to shift over to the participants.

We weren’t sure what to expect on this first stop after those changes.

It was a nice surprise to see the same amount of people back for another experience. There were 72 entries this year after 75 last year at this stop.

All the results can be found on the results page.

The ripping and the progression was good to see, along with how hyped everyone was to meet Zion Wright.

Jackalope hooked up Taylor Burnett at this one.

Thank You
