It’s been an interesting history at Charleston. That was our last stop with just 43 entries. Quite different than the first one at Irmo.
Let’s do a quick dive into these Charleston numbers.
First, the overall history of entries. It’s gnarly.

Charleston entries by year. 2024 and 2025 were rainouts that we tried our best to salvage with indoor games of SKATE, drying the course to get as much of the contest done, etc.
After two years of rainouts and dismal numbers due to that, we were hoping to see a return to some decent participation in 2026. As you can see, that did not happen.
The first thing we’re wondering is, “Where are all the kids from 2021?” Let’s look at the data.
40 Kids Aged 12 and Under Skated Street in Charleston in 2021
Out of those 40 kids, 24 of them have not skated a contest since 2022!

Over half the kids ages 12 and under from 2021 have not entered contests in the last few years.
As usual, our thoughts include:
Are kids quitting skateboarding?
Are they just quitting contests?
Are we doing it all wrong?
Who knows, but as we mentioned before, we’re committed to 10 of these this year all running at the same quality and professional level we’ve always done them at.
A Good Time and Kids New to Skateboarding
Even with numbers a little low, we had a great time and got to experience firsthand the things that laid the path to all of us here becoming life-long skateboarders:
Kids skating their first contest
New friendships formed
New kids getting a taste of the culture of skateboarding outside of organized events
At this stop, specifically through seeing a video showing, Fallen’s “Rise”
One of the pros from the video skated, hung out, and spoke with the kids. Thanks Dalton Dern!
A few photos from the weekend:
Dalton brought the hype all weekend.

Last year was Miles’ first contest. This year he’s kickflipping the stair set in his run. That’s what we’re all here for!
We got Jake Wooten in the caravan with us as we head to Paul Zitzer’s Sprak Skatepark in Louisville, Kentucky.

It’s the same schedule as usual at every stop.
Austin, Texas on May 15 - 16
Right behind No Comply Skate Shop is one of the better parks we’ve done events at in the past. It’s been a few years and we’re excited to return to House Park for another stop on May 15 - 16.

We haven’t been at House Park since 2018.
